Definitely! I think it would be more beneficial to see other dentists to get different experiences.

Here are some of the answers from Instagram users:

    1. "I was a dental assistant before I even know I needed shadowing hours to apply. I used my work hours as shadowing pretty much."

    2. "Why not?"

    3. "Yes!!"

    4. "Dental assisting will count towards shadowing hours but yes you can. Make sure it’s a general dentist."

We would say you definitely can, but these should be tracked as separately. For your application, we recommend that you report your hours of shadowing separately from your dental assisting hours. If you work for a general dentist, it may be beneficial to shadow a specialty that you are interested in, or a few different specialists in order to have a more complete understanding of dentistry.

    Hope this helps! :)
