    Preparing for Interview Questions

    in Pre-Dental Advice Forum

    Anonymous Question from a Pre-Dent

"Hey, everyone. I am a pre-dental student preparing for the upcoming interview cycle. I am wondering how to prepare for interview questions. Specifically, ethics questions. Does anyone have any examples of ethics questions you were asked? Do you have any tips on how to prepare for these questions? Thank you so much for your help!"

I was asked at one of my interviews for my definitions of ethics. I was then asked to describe a hard ethical situation I had faced. I would come prepared for an interview with an example!

I was asked in one of my interviews about the BigPharma couples and the prices they charge for their newly developed drugs. I was also asked in several interviews how I would act in various situations with patients or with people I knew. I think it always came down to "How would I want to be treated in this situation?". I think if you're always trying to treat others with respect, you're on the right track for ethics questions.

Could anyone share more examples of ethics interview questions? These seem like the hardest ones to answer. Thanks

Hi! My name is Brandon Valerio and I'm a D1 at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. Last cycle, all my interviews were completely virtual. In order to prepare, I actually visited my undergraduate institution's career center and participated in a mock interview with my career advisor. If you have something like this available to you, I highly suggest taking advantage of this as I was able to get valuable feedback on common interview questions. For ethical questions, my best piece of advice is to say what comes from your gut and what aligns with your true values and beliefs. A question that I got asked was "If you knew of cheating in a class, what would you do?" To answer these kinds of questions, it is always best to explain what you would personally do and why this aligns with what you believe in. If you google dental school interview questions, there's great resources available on this!
